The ICFOnest+ International Post-doctoral program aims at providing high-level training and support for outstanding international researchers in the early stages of their careers. ICFO- The Institute of Photonic Sciences provides cutting edge facilities as well as a stimulating, international and interdisciplinary environment to help Fellows become successful future researcher leaders.

ICFO- The Institute of Photonic Sciences currently hosts more than 250 researchers organized in 23 research groups, working in 60 state-of-the-art research laboratories. In addition, researchers have access to a range of shared facilities for nanofabrication, characterization, imaging and engineering. All research groups and facilities are located in a specially designed, 14.000 m2-building situated in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.

Research at ICFO encompasses four broad thematic areas: nonlinear photonics, quantum photonics, nanophotonics, and biophotonics, with focus on quantum information technologies, nanophotonic devices, remote sensors, optoelectronics, integrated optics, ultrafast optics, biophotonics and biomedical optics. Research is organized in 3 major programs: Light for Health, Light for Energy and Light for Information.

The ICFOnest program, partially supported by the European Commission's Marie Curie Actions for Co-funding of Regional, National and International Programmes (COFUND) and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO), as well as by Fundacio Privada Cellex, provides rising top-class researchers with excellent facilities, competitive salaries, research expenses and support from Group Leaders. The program will award up to 25 outstanding post-doctorate researchers with INCOMING Fellowships (of 24 months duration). ICFO also offers specialised business courses and complementary training programs as well as a wide range of events, seminars and colloquia involving world-renowned scientists.
